Design Inspiration:
This work was inspired by the intricate pigment residues from fading murals on monastery walls and my memory of home in Tibet and its associated feelings of warmth and comfort. The abstraction comes from the intuitive movements of hands and selections of methods and colors that resonate deeply with its sources of inspiration. In this action, I paid attention to a close working together of my mind and heart, producing what I consider a piece that speaks of a collective history through cultural practices and personal narrative through memory. The layered colors and embedded forms embody the complexity of emotions and history.
